Tenure-Track Position: Biogeography, University of Colorado, Boulder

Position Description: The Department of Geography at the University  of Colorado Boulder seeks to hire a tenure-track Assistant Professor in Biogeography, to begin in August 2014. We seek to hire in the area of biogeography with a focus on effects  of climate change on biogeographic patterns and vegetation change. The successful candidate must have strong research capabilities related to understanding mechanisms responsible for dynamic, disturbance-related vegetation changes that are increasing worldwide  under climate change and land use changes. The successful candidate must have a strong foundation in field-based methodologies applied in disturbance ecology and be interested in integrating field-based research with geospatial and modeling approaches at landscape and broader spatial scales. The ideal candidate should be motivated to interact with colleagues in a broad array of disciplines in the environmental sciences.

Requirements: The successful candidate will regularly teach biogeography at the undergraduate level as part of the normal teaching load of 3 courses per year for research-active faculty. The successful candidate will rotate into the teaching of introductory physical geography courses, and teach undergraduate and graduate classes in his/her specialty. All requirements for the Ph.D. must be completed by August 15, 2014.
